2025 - 2026 fiscal year end Facility Data Reports available

The 2025-2026 fiscal year end Facility Data Reports are now published. The statis reports are available to view in Meridian or through FIT - Facility Data Reports - Previous Year's Reports. Users will need permissions to log into Meridian Explorer to view these reports.

Users can also access current reports in real time through the links under Facilities Data Reports. To gain access, follow instructions below or click the 'about' section in the Facility Data Reports section in FIT.

Facilities Data Reports
General
The Facilities Data Reports report various metrics about the buildings on MSU's East Lansing Campus. Many of the reports are used for insurance purposes or are reported to various state agencies. Every fiscal year end (June 30th), the Facilities Information Services (FIS) team in IPF stores a copy, for the historical record, of each report in the Electronic Document Management System.
Access
The Facilities Data Reports were recently migrated to PowerBI and now require users to have permissions to view and download the reports in different formats. To request access, please use the TDX Client Portal to submit a general access request , requesting you be added to the ITS.SG.SDM.PowerBI.FDR.Viewers security group.

New Records Transmittal - Closeout Form

FIS has recreated the FIS Records Transmittal for closeout due to the new version of Adobe Acrobat and the removal of Foxit from our machines.

New Facility Status field in Planon

What:

Planon is going to push the new Facility Status field into production for Properties, Construction History and Complexes.

When:

September 11th, 2025 @ 8:00 pm

Background:

The Facility Status field will be used to track the status of the facilities while they go through the phases of construction and their lifecycle. The user-defined status field will remain, but for Properties, Construction History and Complexes they will either be 'active' or 'inactive'.

Active - any facility that was ever studied, purchased, sold, planned, designed, constructed, razed, leased, being demolished, out of service.
Inactive - facilities that were combined into one facility number, historical complex placeholders or duplicate records from old systems.

The facility statuses will encompass all the statuses on the workflow diagram below. This will allow FIS to continue tracking the lifecycle of the facilities while at the same time allowing MSU users to select the facilities for their daily operations while the buildings are going through construction or demolition and aren't technically 'active' from a facility lifecycle standpoint.

ACTIVE	Construct	Facility is currently being constructed.
ACTIVE	Active	Facility is currently in-use.
ACTIVE	Out of service	Facility physically exists, but no longer in-use (no access, utilities, and/or maintenance).
ACTIVE	In demo	Facility is planned to be demolished or currently being demolished.
ACTIVE	Razed	Facility is demolished.
ACTIVE	Sold	Facility was once owned by MSU but sold.
ACTIVE	Lease expired/Terminated	Facility was once leased by MSU but is no longer.
ACTIVE	Never built	Facility was planned by MSU, but never built.
ACTIVE	Never purchased	Facility was planned to be purchased by MSU, but not bought.
INACTIVE	Inactive	Facility record was a valid record but has been merged with another facility or was created in error.

Actions:

On 9/12/2205 the facility status field was updated to match the user-defined status field for all the properties, construction histories and complexes.
In mid October, the user-defined status was changed to either active or inactive.
The new field will need to be pointed at anywhere that user-defined status was used for reporting.

Meridian 2024 Upgrade

On Tuesday June 3rd, 2025 at 5:00 pm, IPF IT and FIS will be conducting our annual upgrade of the Meridian software system. Meridian and Meridian Explorer will be upgraded to the 2024 version.

Users will need to install the new version of Meridian following the instructions outlined here.

Instructions and/or outage notices will also be sent to users via email.

AutoCAD/Meridian/Munsys Upgrade 2024

UPDATE: The systems have been upgraded to the newer versions as of August 27th, 2024.

Beginning the week of July 22, 2024 and lasting through August 27th 2024, IPF IT, FIS and SDM will be conducting our annual upgrade of the AutoCAD, Meridian and Munsys software systems. These three systems need to be upgraded in tandem because they are connected functionally.

AutoCAD will be upgraded to the 2024 version.
Meridian will be upgraded to the 2023 version.
Munsys will be upgraded to the 14.3 version.

2023 – 2024 fiscal year end Facility Data Reports available

The 2023 – 2024 fiscal year end Facility Data Reports are now published. They are available to view here.

The switch from FAMIS to Planon in January has made some of the reports that were able to be published live to be unavailable in FIT at this time. The links to the Facility Data Reports on the FIT home page are pulling the data from FAMIS, which has not been updated since January 16^th, 2023. However, the information in the Buildings section of FIT is the current information that is in Planon and updated daily.

Distribution Lists replacing RSS feeds

Users can subscribe to various distribution lists to get updates when attributes are added or modified in the following Planon modules or when FIS updates building and floor plan information. These distribution lists will be replacing the RSS feeds and group emails users used to receive for these types of updates. If you would like to be added to any of these lists, please submit a ticket in the FIS support portal and select 'yes' for which distribution lists you would like to receive updates from and we will add you to the membership.

FIT 2023 new look

A new version of the Facilities Information Tool (FIT) is being deployed officially on Monday July 24th, 2023. The way you get to the information may look a little different and the user experience may feel different in some aspects, but the underlying functionality of what FIT provides the users is the same as before. FIT still provides users with a comprehensive way to get to the facility and infrastructure information

Operations Documents available in AppTree - Search Meridian function

The newest Meridian Document Type, called Operations Documents, is now available to search against using the 'Search Meridian' function in AppTree for users that have mobile Meridian permissions (currently all IPF Building Services staff).

'Operations Documents' is an area for the current building systems and distribution systems drawings and documents to be stored in Meridian. These files are NOT related to projects, but rather are the current, comprehensive view of the buildings, much like the operational drawings in Meridian.

Currently the Electrical Engineers and Central Control are adding files to the operations area, but the document type was designed to grow and be able to store files for many different disciplines. The files loaded into Meridian are available on the mobile app currently, but bear in mind these are not all of the files. The teams are working on adding files as they create them or clean up the data they have currently.

Storing this information in Meridian will allow for the users to pull it up at their desktops as well as in the field. The information can also be displayed via GIS through our campus maps (all permissions based).

PDC Rendering Machines available to log into Meridian

If you are having trouble logging into Meridian to get files or work on files, we hear you! With everyone working remotely and the docked stations not having a desktop computer to remote into back in the office, Meridian has inadvertently become unavailable for for a lot of the PDC staff.

The following KB articles will provide instructions for temporary access to users that need to work on files in Meridian. We are working on a more permanent solution, but this should help users in the meantime.

1. This article gives instructions for FIRST TIME SETUP. There are two rendering machines with Meridian, if you use both, you will have to do the first time set up on both.

2. This article is just a reminder of how to log into the rendering machines.
